Exam Season Skincare Routine with Kiehl's!
I recently went to Kiehl’s and picked up some new products that I’ve been using lately. In fact, I have been using these products since the summer time and they have yet to fail me so I thought I’d share them here with you guys. Growing up, I’ve always suffered from oily skin. Not only does it make my face look shiny, but the excessive production of oil clogs up pores, trapping dirt, which can lead to the formation of new pimples… which is not cute whatsoever. The products I have been using are part of Kiehl’s 3 step Oil Eliminator collection, which has been doing the trick for some time now and I hope they can help you out too.
Step 1:
The Oil Eliminator Deep Cleansing Exfoliating Face Wash
To wash away impurities and keep your skin feeling soft. Made with crushed apricot seeds, this cleanser removes excess oil, pollution, and sweat to minimize the size of pores and eliminate shine. I use a dime size amount every morning and night to keep my face fresh and tight. Because the apricot seeds exfoliate, theres no need to use a lot, thus saving more product for later. Not only is it light weight, but it also has hints of mint that entices a refreshing cool feelings after a nice warm shower.
Step 2:
The Refreshing Shine Control Toner
To mist away excess oil on contact. This spray comes in 2 sizes which is perfect for after exfoliating and on the go. Just 3 sprays of this toner, and your skin feels more refreshed. The toner is what controls oil production and limits the spread of bad bacteria. This is perfect for those stressful afternoons in the library where you feel your face slowly getting oily. I keep a travel size in my bag and I just spray it at random times in the day to keep me looking matte and unfazed.
Step 3:
The 24-Hour Anti-shine Moisturizer
To be absorbed by your skin to maintain hydration. This light weight moisturizer does the trick for an entire day. It seems contradictory to apply moisturizer when your skin is oily as it is, but in fact, moisturizers absorb oil and tightens pores to prevent the excess development of oil. Because the cleanser and toner shut pores temporarily, it is essential to apply this moisturizer immediately after exfoliating to secure the cleanliness and health of your pores. Again, a dime size amount is fine twice a day. Because it is so light weight, it doesn’t even feel like you have applied layers of product.
With exam season just around the corner, more late nights will be spent awake studying instead of hanging out with friends, binge watching the newest series on Netflix or even perfecting your Instagram feed. As exams are stressful for most, we students must find a balance to review endless lectures while still maintaining a clean, put together look. With summer around the corner, you definitely want to put your best foot (or in this case, best face) forward to snatch that job from the rest of the applicants. One way to do this is to take care of your skin and maintain its healthy glow despite final exams. I mean, the only way to intimidate others is to look stress free, when in fact you actually are.
Stay matte and happy exam season!
Candidly,
Jonah
