Welcome to a candid look into my life.

LET’S KEEP IT CANDID

HERE’S THE LATEST

My Personal Goals for 2020

With 2 weeks into the new year, I am glad that I have not lost my drive to accomplish some (if not all) of my goals. This year, I have elevated my desires and have focused on improving certain aspects of my life for long-term gain. Although attending Coachella has been one of my “resolutions” since high school, what happens after that? Will I feel empty again inside? Kicking off the new decade with a fresh perspective, I foresee my new goals to facilitate extended satisfaction.

Enhance a skill

Every year I convince myself to enrol in a photography class, but I always chicken out with excuses. I haven’t been behind the camera in forever because I know the final product will not be at the caliber of my favourite photography accounts on social media. Although I shouldn’t compare myself to others, I want to have a complete understanding of lenses, proper lighting, editing, and aperture, just to mention a few. I plan on attending the Apple’s free classes every Sunday where they go on walks to demonstrate how to capture stunning images from an iPhone. Afterwards, I wouldn’t mind joining a class that teaches the logistics of professional photography on an actual camera. Who’s down to join?

Love Myself

Self-Deprecating jokes are a thing of the past. Last year, I realized most of my self-loathing originated from me focusing my energy towards other people. In some of my “friendships”, I was just a wall that absorbed information. Although I’m here to listen and help, when it came to my problems, these individuals were suddenly nowhere to be found. I began to despise my individuality because I focused all my energy on drama that wasn’t even mine. As a result, I neglected my fitness, mental health and my interests. My pastor recently explained that self-love isn’t selfish. Rather, self-love is a way to regroup and reposition yourself in stressful times to understand your worth in a crazy world. Realizing my importance is the key that will trigger my confidence through fitness, healthy eating, school, fashion and writing.

Positively impacting someone

Prioritizing myself doesn’t mean I neglect the needs of others. Loving myself allows me to spread love and positivity to others. In a wild social climate, showing small acts of kindness definitely go far. However, I want to use my platform to inspire and motivate others to live their best lives fearlessly without care for anyone’s judgement. I want to help people understand that it’s okay to fail, it’s okay to be different and it’s normal to have your path in life change. My goal this year to meet new people and form new friendships simply by creating an open space where we could discuss our struggles, partake in new experiences and grow as human beings.

Grow in faith + be fearless

They say, “With God, there’s no need to fear”. Yet, as a Christian, I still find myself scared in certain scenarios. This year, I want to share more of my faith and be open with my relationship with Jesus Christ. I’m pretty much open about everything in my life, so why not with my faith? I plan expanding my music repertoire by researching more faith-based artists besides Hillsong United. There are some lit Christian artists out there that make really sick bops. It would be nice to listen to something more positive and reassuring over tunes that glorify drugs, sex and murder. Understanding what it is to be a Christian allows me to be more confident in my decisions, have courage to face the unknown and live life with direction and no regret.

Share content Biweekly

It is no secret that I love to blog and share my experiences on social media. However, this is the year that I will be taking my platform more seriously. Instead of randomly uploading posts whenever I please, I plan on releasing new blogs every Monday and Wednesday. Posting biweekly allows me to frequently tap in to my creative mind, leave my house to try new experiences and connect with individuals that share the same interests and passions. I truly believe I have something to say and people would greatly appreciate my thoughts. Therefore, I want to see how far I can take my platform and push myself to develop strong lifestyle content that will be accessed by individuals worldwide.

These are my 5 New Year’s resolutions that I will be accomplishing by the end of this year. I wanted to share my aspirations online to pressure myself to remain accountable and on track. At the end of 2020 I will revisit this post and see if I accomplished my goals and create new ones. Although the world may seem like a crazy place to be in right now, I am excited to improve who I am and impact the lives of others. What are your resolutions for 2020? I’d love to know! Maybe we can totally get some done together!

Candidly,

Jonah
