Welcome to a candid look into my life.

LET’S KEEP IT CANDID

HERE’S THE LATEST

Coffee, Oysters, Champagne

Picture this: it’s 2 in the afternoon and your work day just can’t be any slower. Been there before? I know I have (literally today). One of the perks associated with working in the Financial District is being a few steps away from Toronto’s Entertainment District. With one-of-a-kind restaurants, theatres, bars, and the chicest coffee shops, you’ll definitely find something that suits your fancy. However, before checking out any of those other places, it is imperative that you try Coffee Oysters Champagne. Located on King Street West just off University lies the city’s newest Parisian-inspired hotspot.

The joint has always sparked my curiosity. I mean coffee, oysters, AND champagne all under the same roof? Sounds like a stomach ache to me. But, after several visits, I stand corrected. The shop is located below street level which provides walkers a beautiful birds-eye-view of their outdoor patio. Lined with patio lights and sleek white decor, I was intrigued to see if the café’s menu lived up to the stunning ambiance (I know. Does good decor mean good food? Realistically no, but on Instagram, most likely). Before heading downstairs, witty marketing slogans reassure guests that “they are not another Starbucks” and confirms that “avocado toast is not basic”.

COC prides itself as the polar opposite of the typical coffee chain. After a couple of minutes revelling in the aesthetically pleasing atmosphere, I began to ponder if the joint was even considered a coffee shop? They offered a wide range of coffee and tea, but their fresh selection of oysters and champagne makes them a front runner in every millennials list of places to be visit. In addition to the beverages and seafood, COC released a new brunch menu which features the best avocado toast I have ever tasted and a savoury tuna salad sandwich that exhilarated my tastebuds.

Come sundown, COC turns into the place to be seen. With cocktail parties uniting Toronto’s elite toasting the end of a work week, COC pioneers the way for an innovate coffee shop experience. I was surprised to see how a café filled with people doing work evolved into a social gathering hub after hours. The café’s versatility to cater to varying audiences is what makes it a success. Opening from 7 am to 2 am, there is no excuse for you not to drop by and “Sip Shuck Sip”.

Candidly,

Jonah
