With summer break quickly approaching, my friend and I have already made plans to check out some of the newest it-spots in Toronto. Because all of us have a love for food, we always like to try out a new restaurant after a long day of exploring to exhilarate our taste buds. In the heart of the Mink Mile, lies the ever so chic Wish Restaurant. Just steps away from Bloor Subway Station, the restaurant serves gourmet food in an environment that mimics a boutique in the Hamptons.
Because the exterior of the building was just a plain white facade, I was surprised to see the rustic interior perfectly balanced with white hardwood finishes and tropical patterned upholstery upon entering. I immediately knew I was in a hot spot for young adults when Rihanna’s “Kiss It Better” began blasting through the sound system that smoothly transitioned to Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin’ Bout You”. The place was packed with 20-somethings with a love of street style and designer sunglasses. It felt like I was an extra on a reality TV show all of a sudden. We were seated right by the window, which provided excellent lighting and a spacious table to order a lot of food.
I ordered the Salmon Burger (pictured below) which contained tomato, lettuce, onions, and their signature housemate tartar sauce. The burger came with a side of garden salad that perfectly complemented the taste of the burger. You guys, to this day, I still crave that burger. In fact, I feel like I still taste it in my mouth. I have never tasted a burger made that delicious before, let alone salmon grilled to perfection. My friend ordered the Traditional Ceasar Salad with double smoked lardons and a side of fries. Just like myself, he was impressed with the food and the customer service we were provided.
Wish Restaurant is definitely the go to spot to have good chats, be seen, and of course, snap that selfie. Located on 3 Charles Street East in Toronto, the restaurant offers select menus for brunch, lunch, and dinner. If that doesn’t impress you, I recommend showing up on your birthday as your meal is on them. From the interior design, the atmosphere, and the food, Wish was a dining experience like no other. If you happen to be in Toronto, definitely pay a visit and let your wishes come true.
Candidly,
Jonah
